Church of Earth (aka Earth Church) is an ongoing, evolving practice of inviting myself and others into remembering & recreating a sacred relationship with this mysterious and generous planet.

It began as an experimental installation of my ideal “church” or temple, and a study of religion and spirituality. I built altars and made a series of artworks exploring sacred space, and invited everyone I knew to come worship in the Church of Earth.
This project was my way of attempting to process my grief, rage and anxiety about ecological abuse and the malaise of living in a generally avoidant and disembodied culture. I wondered, what is the role of the individual within the collective whole? How can I recover my own agency to change the conditions of our world?

From 2016-2020, Church of Earth evolved into a series of community art shows, events & workshops, a brief podcast, a shop of “Recycled Goods”, many personal art projects, and a newsletter, “Earthling News”, which has evolved from its original structure but continues today.
While I set this project aside in recent years, I still long to be part of a “church” that honors the Earth, with respect and gratitude for the many land-centered traditions of past and present, as we create a bridge into the future.

As I write this in 2026, the vision still resonates.
Stay tuned for a rebirth...
